Role Summary:
Perform environmental site investigation, fieldwork including drilling and well installation oversight, environmental sampling and site remediation monitoring, data management, analysis and interpretation, geological modeling, and permitting and report writing.
Position Responsibilities:
- Plan and conduct engineering/ scientific work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and use of standards, techniques, procedures and criteria.
- Collect remedial design and operation data and prepare remedial system installation, operation, and maintenance documents.
- Supervise and control of drilling programs, geophysical and field surveys, and evaluation of data.
- Prepare geologic maps, collect soil samples including soil, groundwater, and possible asbestos containing material, and lead-based paint and make measurements that are analyzed.
- Produce technical reports for the Company, joint venture partners and government agencies.
- Interpret data and composes technical reports including maps and diagrams that recount the information gained from site visits and research, integrating field and laboratory data that illustrate the results of studies.
- Prepare Site Characterization Reports/ Remedial Action Plans on projects; coordinate pilot tests and cleanup system installation.
- Gather, document and analyze geological data and logging soil boring in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System.
- Inspect properties for potential environmental problems/ liabilities, which require focused attention to the site.
- Research history and general information for each subject site with the use of local street directories, aerial photographs, and any other documented records and permits.
- Assist with the preparation of proposals and cost estimates for potential clients as needed.
- Uses various software applications, such as Aquifer Tests software, starter 4, MS products, and graphics packages to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and/or reports.
- Troubleshoot problems/challenges with production and recommend corrective action. Devise new approaches to problems/challenges encountered.
- Determine operations required by ensuring quality, cost, and efficiency requirements for project assignments are met.
- Function as Task lead or Task Manager when required.
- Perform related duties, special assignments and projects as required and assigned by the Vice President or designee.
Key Capability Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Hydrogeology or Geology. Ability to acquire geologist registration.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in subsurface investigations. Expertise in drilling and field sampling, well installation and aquifer testing preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of Project personnel
- Physical ability to work in the field, directing drilling and sampling programs, conducting contaminant characterization and remediation activities.
- A strong background in geochemistry and experience in the environmental characterization of sites with contaminated soils and groundwater Proven abilities to write technical papers and reports.
- Skills and interest in technical/oral presentations.
- Good organizational skills and responsiveness
- Knowledge of Water computer software and processing applications, experience with strater4 and aquifer test software preferred.
